When you are the caregiver of someone with special needs, you focus on your loved one’s physical, emotional, and social needs. You’re also their appointment setter and greatest advocate!  You must keep track of medical records, therapy schedules, IEPs, and well…everything else!  This takes planning and organization. Here are some ways you can organize your life.

DECLUTTER: physically

  • throw away outdated paperwork
  • put current and important paperwork in a 3-ring binder
  • give everything a ‘home’
  • fill up a giveaway bag and set a date to donate

DECLUTTER: mentally

  • jot down appointments on calendar right away
  • create to-do lists to prioritize tasks

DECLUTTER: emotionally

  • toss any negative thoughts out
  • remind yourself that you’re doing the best you can
